Chris and I love to travel. When I say love, I mean true love. Traveling literally gives me heart flutters and endless daydreams of the times when we got to explore other parts of the world.
I remember when I was 10 weeks pregnant with the triplets and I had just gotten out of the doctor’s office for another terrifying visit into my future life. I got in the car with Chris and I said, “Chris, we are never going to be able to go anywhere again. Ever.”
You know how it is when something in your life is causing you anxiety and instead of just being realistic and saying, “this too shall pass,” you say, “this is going to be how it is for the rest of my life.”
For example, Elsie has been having some night terrors and waking us up every night multiple times. We end up just letting her sleep in a sleeping bag beside our bed some nights. Instead of thinking that it is just a phase and she will grow out of it soon, my brain automatically draws the nonsense conclusion that Elsie could very well be a teenager sleeping in a sleeping bag beside my bed.
My point is that after I left the doctor’s office five years ago, I was wrong about never traveling anywhere again.
In an amazing twist of fate, Chris has earned his company’s award trip every year since the triplets have been born. If not for these amazing trips through work, we would most likely never ask our family to stay with our kids for a week while we take a luxury vacation.
We spent last week in Kauai, Hawaii sipping on Mai Tai’s, eating Ahi sashimi and swimming in the ocean.
Highlight of the trip: taking a private helicopter ride around the island to an oceanfront estate for dinner and getting to see Saturn and all her glorious rings through a mega-powerful telescope.
Making this trip happen took some big juggling for child care coverage. Chris’ parents had to drive our four kids eight hours home from Sunriver for us. My parents had to come home from busy days of work to feed my kids and put them to bed during the week. Thank you to two amazing sets of grandparents who helped us with our children so we could go on this trip. Thank you to my sister and brother-in-law who took Ava and showed her a great time last week.
Thank you to my husband who is so amazing at his job that we get to reap some very special rewards.
Thank you to the splendid sun and the perfectly gentle breeze blowing off of a deep blue ocean providing a week of bliss in Kauai.
Thank you to the Mai Tai.
Gratitude is not lost on me.
Until next time, the mothership is signing off.
each time i used to read smaller content that as well clear their motive,
and that is also happening with this article which
I am reading here.
I’ve learn a few good stuff here. Definitely value bookmarking for
revisiting. I wonder how a lot attempt you set to make this kind of wonderful informative web site.
I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your site?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe
you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect
with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two images.
Maybe you could space it out better?
