National Coffee Day 2024: Deals, Freebies and More

Ah, finally! One of my favorite days of the year is upon us! Sept. 29 is National Coffee Day — a day when purveyors of all things joe get to honor our favorite beverage with special perks, including free coffee, drink deals, and discounted subscriptions. You’ll find deals from many of your favorite caffeine providers, such as Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, Peet’s Coffee and Tim Hortons.

In many ways, coffee powers the US, since Americans drink about 517 million cups of coffee a day, according to the National Coffee Association. In fact, Americans drink coffee more than any other beverage — including water — and nearly 80% of us enjoy at least two cups a day, while more than half of us drink three or more. 

Though many restaurants and coffeehouses haven’t yet announced deals for 2024, some have, and we can predict the other offers you can expect to see, based on the deals we rounded up last year. Below, you’ll find this year’s best National Coffee Day freebies and offers.

Deals we know will be available Sunday, Sept. 29

Atlas Coffee Club

In honor of National Coffee Day, Atlas Coffee Club will give you your first bag of premium, single-origin coffee for free now through Oct. 2, with a subscription. 

Atlas is also offering an additional $10 off your purchase for National Coffee Day.

Baskin-Robbins

Baskin-Robbins is offering its popular Cappuccino Blast now for $5 (small), $6 (medium) and $7 (large) in five flavors: original, caramel, mocha, Oreo ‘n Cookies, and Turtle. Offer available now through Oct. 31. 

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

All day on National Coffee Day, customers can pop into The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for a buy one, get one free beverage deal. 

Cult Coffee

Use code FIRSTTIME at checkout when you make your first purchase on Cult Coffee’s website and get the product for free, except for shipping and handling. Limited-edition releases and botanicals are excluded from this offer.

Dunkin’

Dunkin’ Rewards members can get a free hot or iced medium-size coffee with any purchase on Sunday, Sept. 29. It’s limited to one per member, and additional fees may apply. This offer doesn’t extend to cold brew and nitro cold brew drinks. 

Eight O’Clock Coffee

National Coffee Day is a great time to stock up on coffee, too. Now through Sept. 29, customers can get 15% off any purchase of $75 or more at eightoclock.com using the code BESTBREW.

Keurig

The popular coffee pod manufacturer is offering 20% off all coffee pods between Sept. 29 and Sept. 30. Just use code COFFEE DAY on its website. 

The offer is valid for K-Cup, K-Carafe, K-Mug and Rivo pods and bagged coffee purchased online. It doesn’t include Vue pods, bundles, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Reserve coffees or Illy K-Cup pods.

La Colombe

Pop into any La Colombe cafe, including the Chobani Cafe in New York City, and enjoy a free drip coffee on Sunday, Sept. 29. 

From Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, customers shopping on LaColombe.com can also enjoy a buy three, get one free deal on its 12-ounce coffee boxes. 

La Madeleine 

La Madeleine is celebrating International Coffee Day by giving away a regular or large drip coffee with any online or app purchase. In 2023, this offer was valid from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 to celebrate both National Coffee Day and International Coffee Day.

There are more than 80 La Madeleine locations across Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia. 

L’Or Coffee

Now for a limited time, the L’Or Barista Coffee and Espresso System will be on sale for $159, a $30 discount off the retail price, with 30 free coffee capsules. L’Or is also offering free shipping on orders of $35 or more.

Maverik

The more than 400 Maverik locations in the western US are offering a buy one, get one for $1 deal on 15-ounce Starbucks canned coffee beverages now through Sept. 29. 

In 2023, Adventure Club loyalty members got 50% off a cup of Maverik coffee on National Coffee Day, while Upgraded Nitro cardholders got a complimentary large hot beverage. Be on the lookout for these deals again in 2024.

Peet’s Coffee

On National Coffee Day, stop by participating Peet’s locations for one free small drip coffee or cold brew. And Peetnik Rewards members can also receive free upsizes now through Sept. 29.

Peet’s customers can also enjoy 25% off at Peet’s in-store locations and online now through Sept. 29. Just use the code NCD2024.

Rise Brewing Co.

Want free coffee for a year? Go to the Rise website and enter its giveaway. You’ll need to subscribe to its newsletter, follow Rise on Instagram and enter your email into the online contest form. The winner will be selected on Oct. 1, 2024, and announced on Rise’s Instagram story.

Sheetz

Sheetz offers deals every National Coffee Day via its app. Last year, if customers purchased anything on the Sheetz app between Sept. 29 and Oct. 1, they received any size nitro or cold brew coffee for free.

Sheetz has also just released its new coconut nitro latte, right in time for Coffee Day celebrations. 

Shipley Do-Nuts

On Sunday for National Coffee Day, customers can head to a Shipley’s Do-Nuts location for a free signature glazed donut with any coffee purchase. You’ll need to sign up for a Do-Happy Rewards membership first. 

Starbucks

Ah, yes. The big one. Let’s take a look at how this coffee empire is celebrating National Coffee Day 2024. 

Unlike in years past, Starbucks is celebrating how coffee brings people together with an exclusive, in-person event and a partnership with Amazon. On Sunday, Sept. 29, Starbucks will bring together coffee lovers, music devotees and communities across the country by partnering with music duo Sofi Tukker to host a Twitch livestream DJ set, At Home With Sofi Tukker.

As part of the Amazon partnership, when you spend $50 on Amazon, you can get $10 off eligible Starbucks coffee at-home products. This offer applies to Pike Place medium roast ground coffee, Starbucks flavor variety K-Cup pack, Starbucks Via Instant Colombia coffee packets, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice cold brew concentrate and more. This offer is now available and is redeemable at Starbucks Coffee At-Home’s Amazon page, automatically applied at checkout.

Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons posted on its website that starting Sept. 27, rewards members will receive “big” deals for National Coffee Day 2024. Sign up for Tims Rewards to receive updates and score exclusive rewards.

Deals we expect will be available Sunday, Sept. 29

Aroma Joe’s 

In 2023, Aroma Joe’s offered a free 16-ounce hot or iced coffee to all customers. AJ’s Rewards members also received a free 24-ounce coffee via the app Sept. 29 through Oct. 5.

Bean Box

Last year, Bean Box offered customers a free 12-ounce bag of coffee with any purchase on the Bean Box website or mobile app from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. Bean Box also offered deals and freebies via Instagram. 

Black Rock Coffee Bar

In celebration of National Coffee Day 2023, the company offered any medium coffee drink for just $3. Black Rock started as a family business in Oregon in 2008, and it’s since grown to more than 115 locations across seven states.

BLK & Bold 

This Black-owned coffee brand offered a buy two, get one free deal on all coffee items from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 in 2023. Customers also got free shipping for online purchases. Stay tuned on their Instagram for 2024 freebies and deals. 

Popular Blk & Bold items include the company’s Smoove Operator dark roast blend coffee ($14 for a 12-ounce bag) and cans of BLK & Bold nitro cold brew ($11.49 for a four-pack). Additionally, 5% of gross profits support For Our Youth, a nonprofit aiding children in need.

Blue Bottle

In 2023, Blue Bottle Coffee offered 15% off coffee and coffee sets online and 15% off shipping for first-time subscribers. It also offered free shipping on orders of $35 or more. These offers were valid Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.

Caribou Coffee

Caribou Perks members enjoyed exclusive offers all week long in 2023, from discounts on drinks to double points on their accounts. Also, Caribou offered medium espresso shakers for just $3 on Sept. 29, 2023. Then, on Oct. 1, 2023, International Coffee Day, they offered customers $1 off when purchasing any size drip coffee.

Circle K

For National and International Coffee Day 2023, Circle K offered customers one free cup of coffee when they used the Circle K app. The offer was valid for any size beverage and ran from Sept. 25 through Oct. 2. We can expect to see the same or similar deals for 2024. 

Cumberland Farms

In 2023, customers just needed to download this coupon for one free coffee — hot or iced, any size — at any Cumberland Farms, Turkey Hill, Fastrac, Sprint, Minit Mart, Kwik Shop, Loaf n’ Jug, Certified Oil, Quik Stop or Tom Thumb location. The offer was valid only on Sept. 29 and was limited to one coupon per person.

Ellianos Coffee

Ellianos was giving out complimentary medium-size hot or iced coffee on Sept. 29, 2023. All you had to do was go through the Ellianos drive-thru and tell the barista you wanted to participate in the National Coffee Day celebration. Ellianos has offered National Coffee Day deals for years, so we can expect deals and freebies for 2024.

Krispy Kreme 

Last year on Sept. 29, customers got a free medium hot or iced coffee at Krispy Kreme. No additional purchase was necessary (though we can’t imagine walking out of a Krispy Kreme without at least one donut). 

Kolache Factory

Yeast-dough pastries crammed with a sweet or savory filling, kolaches are particularly popular in Texas and the Midwest, thanks to the Czech immigrants who brought them there in the 1800s. 

On Sept. 29, 2023, Kolache Factory, with more than 60 locations nationwide, gave customers a free 12-ounce cup of coffee to go with their kolache. You just had to ask the cashier or show them the coupon from Facebook, Instagram or X (formerly Twitter).

Maman

On Sept. 29, 2023, the New York-based French bakery and cafe offered a free small drip coffee with purchase to the first 29 customers.

Maman has 30 locations in North America, including in Philadelphia; Montreal; Toronto; Washington, DC; and numerous outposts across New York City.

Paris Baguette

Paris Baguette partnered with Lavazza to offer a free medium hot or iced coffee with purchase from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2023 — National Coffee Day through to International Coffee Day.

Partners Coffee

New and returning members received an additional 10% off their first three Partners Coffee subscription orders on National Coffee Day 2023. The offer included Partners’ line of Mainstay roasts, Roaster’s Choice, and Rockaway cold brew pouches. We can hope to see this deal, or more, for 2024.

Philz Coffee

Philz Coffee celebrated National Coffee Day 2023 by offering $1 off all Philz Coffee Mocha Tesora beverages, made with Ghirardelli chocolate. The offer was good for any size beverage, hot or iced, and was automatically applied to any in-store or mobile purchase on Sept. 29.

Philz Coffee has 69 locations in the San Francisco Bay Area; Los Angeles; Sacramento; San Diego; Chicago; Virginia; and Washington, DC.

Pilot Flying J

Pilot Flying J gave away coffee all day on National Coffee Day 2023. Customers just needed to redeem the offer through the MyRewards Plus app and choose any size hot, iced or cold brew coffee. Fingers crossed we see this again on Sunday. 

PJ’s Coffee

On National Coffee Day 2023, PJ’s Coffee included a free 12-ounce hot coffee or cold brew with any pastry or sandwich. It also offered a free 12-ounce hot coffee or cold brew with any purchase of a bag of whole bean coffee.

Tous les Jours

From Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, 2023, the French-Asian bakery cafe chain Tous les Jours held coffee happy hours. Each day, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, customers received a 12-ounce hot coffee or 16-ounce iced coffee for only $1.

Wendy’s

From National Coffee Day 2023 through Oct. 1, Wendy’s offered a hot or cold small coffee for $1. The offer applied to any flavor. To stay tuned, visit the Offers section in the app’s Rewards Store or on the Wendy’s website.
